Viktor "vuggo" Jendeby shared a few words about the re-match with FaZe, the current standing of fnatic's map pool and facing Gambit tomorrow.
fnatic have emerged in second place of the Group of Death following a convincing win over FaZe in the re-match at the end of day three.
fnatic aren't afraid of playing any team on any map, says vuggo
We asked the coach, Viktor "vuggo" Jendeby, about facing FaZe again, this time in a best-of-three, what they learned from their last results and how they view the Gambit match-up:
Considering your last results with FaZe, losing Mirage at ELEAGUE, how did you feel about the three maps that came out of the veto?
I think we're quite comfortable playing them on every map except for Nuke. We practised some against them and they play a very very loose style on Nuke, so we don't feel that comfortable playing them on it. But other than that we know a lot about how they like to play, how they like to approach probably every map. We're very comfortable on Cache right now, even though we got a bad start we closed the game really well. Mirage just went on momentum from Cache I believe.
Why do you think you started Cache being down 0-7?
We are always slow starters, I don't think there's anything special to point to. There were two close rounds in the weapon rounds where they survived with one guy, so I think those rounds were just marginals. I knew that as soon as we got the first round we would start rolling, and we did and it felt good.
Talking about your overall map pool, there's been a lot of criticism about your Mirage and a few other maps, how do you feel about it now after passing the group stage?
I think our map pool is almost as strong as it has been for a couple of months now. With olof back we feel comfortable with playing every map, of course some are stronger than others, but we are not afraid to face any team on any map.
Gambit are considered the easiest match-up out of the four, what do you think about the team?
There isn't any easy match at the Major, I think Gambit have proven themselves time and time again, both in the Major qualifier, the last Major and obviously here. So we're not gonna underestimate them, we'll watch a lot of demos tomorrow and we will be prepared. I think it will go our way if we play like we did today.
How do you feel about how you match up to them?
It's kinda hard to say, we haven't watched that many matches from them. I know they play a very yolo-like playstyle sometimes, they play with a lot of confidence, like we do, so there will probably be a lot of individual performances from both teams. Other than that I'll have to come back with an answer when I watch more demos.
